Book Review – Say Her Name by James Dawson

Here we have a solid “Candyman”-style story set in a boarding school where a girl called Bobbie and her best friend get involved in the summoning of a legendary ghost called Bloody Mary who, it is alleged, lives in the school.

Of course, what starts as a bit of a lark amongst the girls and some boys they’ve smuggled in rapidly descends with a countdown and a body count not unlike “The Ring”.

Not the most complex or entertaining of the books I read for my judging but nice stuff for your teenager to hide under the blankets reading of a dark, windy night.

(Say Her Name is one of the books I judged for the UK & Ireland YA Book Prize 2015)
