The whole “parenthood for the third time” thing is going grand but a conversation I had with a friend illustrated just how it affects you.
He asked how the sleep was going and I told him it was, apart from the odd hiccup here and there, going about normal. Normal for a parent.
If I’d told him that for the next year or so he’d get, at most, between 5 and 6 hours sleep a night, being woken in the middle for half an hour by someone screaming at him he might think it akin to the sort of black ops torture that wouldn’t look out of place in Guantanamo 🙂
