I had forgotten my love of Doomlord prior to rediscovering his Myspace page(!) the other day. In case I haven’t struck you as the type, I collected comics of every shape and variety from the time I was 10 or 11 ’til I left home. Marvel, DC, independent, UK stuff including the glorious 2000 AD. That’s where I encountered him first and he scared the bejeesus out of me for years.
The strip was a picture one when I read it – kind of like those ones in Jackie magazine except the thrust wasn’t whether Derek got to kiss Samantha but whether humankind would be annihilated this week by a scary shape-shifting alien who lived in a boarding house…
Anyone know where I could get some back issues? Physically, in the real world, not on Ebay? Just out of idle nostalgia….

Oh boy Rick, it’s been a while since I commented in your blog entries, but this one caught me eye(particularly on a cr*ppy day when work is going slow). “the glorious 2000 AD. That’s where I encountered him first” I’m pretty sure Doomlord first appeared in the revamped Eagle of the early eighties. The reason this sticks in my mind is I bought the first couple of issues and they had Doomlord in them…I don’t know if he appeared in 2000AD prior to this, but the revamped Eagle was the first time I saw him
I have loads of old Eagle comics upstairs somewhere featuring Doomlord… 🙂
