Oh wow, they are amazing! I love the yawning one. They must be composite no?
They’re comps. He spent weeks snapping the same area and then PS’ed them together. There’s another great one of loads of people yawning.
The yawning one’s my favourite too…
Snap on the yawning one, I love that one too and now thinking about it has made me yawn as I type! This was the explainy bit about it:
“Danish photographer Peter Funch stakes New York City street corners out for two weeks at a time, taking pictures of passersby from the very same spot. But what he does next may be even more labor-intensive.
For his “Babel Tales” photo series, Funch picked dozens of samey pedestrians — smokers, cell-phone gabbers, hospital-scrubs wearers, yawners — and Photoshopped them into the same frames. In one photo, Times Square shutterbugs turn into a swarm of paparazzi. In another, an ocean of kids seems to wash over the city. Funch has even created a New York where everyone carries flowers. Now, wouldn’t that be a nice city to live in?”
