The South Korean World Cup Experience…

Don’t know if you’ll be able to see this properly but went into my local the other evening on the way home from an evening shopping and what did we hear coming from the back of the pub? Cheering, chanting and screaming….

Bit weird that one given that we’re not in the World Cup.

Went down to check and what did I see to my disbelieving eyes?

A room full of South Korean fans, some in full regalia with banners, flags and facepaint. You’ve got to love multicultural Ireland 🙂 To be fair one of my son’s best friends in school in South Korean (and another of his friends just went back to Seoul this year and there are 16 different nationalities in his school from Ukranians to Saudis, Czechs, French, Phillipinos and Nigerians) so I shouldn’t have been that surprised.

They were vocal, excitable and incredibly polite, just as you’d expect.

They took defeat with good grace and about 10 minutes after the end of the match they all filed off home with kids in tow. That is very much the way to do it…
