Book Review – Lobsters by Tom Ellen & Lucy Ivison

While there are no bad book on the shortlist, this is probably the one that engaged me least even though it was one of the funnier ones (and one of the ruder ones I’m glad to say!) Sam and Hannah tell two halves of the story of one summer at the end of school where their stories start in different places but they rapidly intersect again and again.

It ticks many of the boxes you’d expect – coming of age, peer pressure, sexual awakening

Not my favourite however, remember, I’m a 41-year-old man and I think a teenage girl might feel radically different about Lobsters.

(Lobsters is one of the books I judged for the UK & Ireland YA Book Prize 2015)
