Have realised it’s been a while. That doesn’t mean I haven’t been sampling new beers. All of the below are worth your time: Oh yeah, be aware that the lovely folk from Galway Bay are opening a whole new ball game this week in The Beer Market. Can’t wait 🙂

The Irish Beer And Whiskey Festival 2015

Posted

So, how was it for you? Unlike last time I lasted 4 hours (I am a complete lightweight!) by taking it very easy and eating well. Met some lovely people, spent a great evening, was at home at a sensible hour… Among other things I liked on the night included: And then there’s this baby. It’s a top-notch beer in bottles, on tap it comes very, very close to being as good as I’ve ever had for my palette. You should try Polar Vortex…

Tweets For Free 2

Posted

You might remember the last time there was a craft beer festival in the RDS I offered free retweets for all Irish beer creators telling people what they had on for the weekend. We had a brilliant time. Well the Irish Beer And Whiskey Fest starts Friday in the RDS and same rules apply. If you’re an Irish brewery (distiller, cider maker, food outlet) there this weekend tweet me @rickoshea and I’ll RT what you’re up to to my almost 44,000 followers. Why? Well because I get much enjoyment out of the creativity of what you all do over the year and […]

New Beers, Cork Beers, Beers With My Face On Them

Posted

Yup, it’s been way to long since I’ve done a regular craft beer post here, before Xmas actually (although I have done Beers Of The Year and Edinburgh since then to be fair). First off a few things I’ve tried over the last while you might like… All varying degrees of niceness, all worth your time. I was in Cork or a night recently so decided to do the wander of the local craft beer spots. Found this in Franciscan Well: Rising Sons I hadn’t been in before, nice spot with plenty of beers and very busy… And a little gem in The Friary […]

Craft Beer In Edinburgh

Posted

I was off for a couple of days in Edinburgh recently and, amongst all the walking in the cold and the culturey stuff, of course I had to try the local craft beer spots. Just for you guys for the future, like. Brewdog Edinburgh was the first sport, of course. Just as you’d expect, all their stuff and guests on tap (the Hop Cannon beer blew my head off!) The haggis pizza was an unexpectedly pleasant surprise… Found The Hanging Bat too. Nice atmosphere, in-house beers and a very decent food menu which included….. that’s right…. haggis on a hot dog. […]

Beers Of The Year 2014

Posted

I realised over the weekend that I had done a list of my favourite books of 2014, but not the beers I tries and liked most. Of course, time is short now so I’m going to do what I’ve always done. Below you’ll find pictures of the beers I tried this year and liked the most. Yes, I realise most are Irish and some breweries dominate but that’s what happens when you’re brilliant. These are the ones I’ll be grabbing over Xmas if I can find then as first preference beers. Grab any of them and you’re on to a […]
