It was 2003 and the even then legendary Russell T Davies had written a two part drama for ITV called The Second Coming that I accidentally stumbled on (not being your typical ITV drama watcher, me). A drama in which a late 30-something Mancunian suddenly one morning wakes up realising he’s the son of God.

I watched it for his writing and the lead actor. A guy who only became front page news when he was cast in another one of Davies’ projects two years later…
