Donegal was genuinely fantastic on Saturday night – you can never tell with a gig how it’s going to fly as it all depends on the part of the country you’re in and how popular 2FM is there. In some places I could literally go from one end of the evening to another with barely a soul coming up to say hi or ask for a request but Glenties is not one of those places…
I should have gotten some pointer from when my taxi driver told me he had to make a quick stop at the top of the village – a bunch of guys and girls had somehow tracked down that he was the designated transport for the night and I was dragged out for phone photos a go-go… Mega 🙂
Spent the whole evening from when I went on at 1 talking to listeners both of the show, the old breakfast show and even hardcore “Dusty, Rick & Ruth” fans from a few years ago. The nicest people ever.
Flew up and back (for only €75 return why not?!) and Dublin airport both on Saturday night and Sunday morning was the quietest I’ve ever seen it. Took a few photos along the way, no introduction, no explanation… I just like the clean, bright imagery of airports, the loneliness of hotel rooms (no matter how nice they are) and the clean cold of Donegal mornings… Oh, and snow ploughs…
